Choosing Mixers & Taps

Mixers are the part people touch every day, so the difference between a good one and a cheap one shows up months later rather than on day one. Two things matter: a chrome-plated brass body rather than zamak, and a 35 or 40 mm ceramic cartridge. The cartridge controls the flow and is the first part to wear — and it can be replaced on its own without changing the whole mixer. The standard connection size in Egypt is ½ inch on almost every mixer.
